The Wraps - “To Dance With You”
The newest single from Athens’ premier indie-punk foursome is out now, and it did not disappoint. The Wraps released “To Dance With You” on Friday February 13th, and with it have cemented themselves even deeper into the signature sound of the Classic City. From glossy indie pop to gritty punk rock, the Wraps cover all the bases with their unique yet timeless style.
It’s not hard to trace the Athens sound through the Wraps’ emerging discography, and “To Dance With You” is no different. A catchy guitar hook grabs your ear immediately, and the energy is matched by the vocal performance of bassist and singer Zac Mihalko. The rest of the band fills out the track with lively and raw yet decisive instrumental contributions. “To Dance With You” makes it clear that regardless of their punk rock aesthetics, The Wraps can play.
Recorded at the iconic Chase Park Transduction studio by students of UGA’s own music production class, the new single effortlessly evokes all the hallmarks of a classic Athens track– addictive riffs, authentic lyrics, and some sort of interdimensional force that drags you out of your seat and onto the dance floor.
“To Dance With You” joins other singles such as “All It Was” and “Goodnight” to fill out a discography that keeps listeners consistently wanting more. While most may jump to compare the Wraps to bygone eras, there’s one place and time that their sound absolutely deserves to call home: right here, right now.
